As a follow-up to the recent screening of the film They Came to a City at the National Media Museum, Bradford, there is available online a detailed, perceptive and wellbalanced article on the film by Dr Keith M Johnston, a Senior Lecturer In Film and Television at the University of East Anglia. Part of what he terms The Great Ealing Film Challenge and dating from 2011 it succeeds admirably in counterbalancing the negativeviews on the film expressed by earlier critics such as Charles Barr whilst avoiding any exaggerated claims for it.
