NEW EDITION OF THE TOWN MAJOR OF MIRAUCOURT

THE TOWN MAJOR OF MIRAUCOURT

This short story of 1930 is to be re-issued, by Turnpike Books, the small Londonpublisher which has already published (in 2014) a collection of Priestley stories entitled What a Life! T

he original publication of The Town Major was limited to a vellum-bound Edition of 525 copies, signed and in a slip-case, and is very hard to find. It was also included in the 1934 collection of many of Priestley’s early works,
Four-in-Hand; and parts of it in Priestley’s Wars. The story is based on JBP’s own experiences towards the end of World War I.

Now, on December 1st 2017, Turnpike are re-publishing it as a paperback at £5 through Amazon, whose website already features the announcement. It has been re-set with great clarity to 64 pages. A lovely little Christmas present, available online from Amazon, but also stocked by Waterstones, Salts Mill (Bradford) and the Imperial War Museum.
